About Us

The Obstetrical Care Program (OCP) at Toronto Western Family Health Team is a group of family physicians who have enhanced skills in low-risk pregnancy and birth. Our team looks after you while you are pregnant, during your delivery and after your delivery while in the hospital.

The OCP is part of the University Health Network and works in partnership with Mount Sinai Hospital. Our clinic is an academic family health team, that is affiliated with the University of Toronto. Your care will include medical residents who are completing specialized training in family medicine and are supervised by staff physicians.

Pre-natal Appointments

Pre-natal appointments take place at the Toronto Western Family Health Team Clinic: Bathurst Site or Garrison Creek Site. You will have access to an interprofessional healthcare team that is knowledgeable in obstetrical care. All services are covered by OHIP. Self-paying patients who have legal residency in Canada may also be accepted.

Your Delivery

Deliveries take place at Mount Sinai Hospital. Your core delivery team includes:

  • A nurse
  • A family medicine resident
  • A staff family physician

We also work closely with a larger team of obstetricians, pediatricians, anaesthetists, and pediatricians to ensure the best possible care for you. Family physicians perform low-risk vaginal deliveries. If you need additional support or a caesarean section, an obstetrician from Mount Sinai Hospital will be there to provide care for you or do your surgery. We will continue to follow your care and provide support to you.

We Believe

  • That pregnancy and childbirth experience is unique to each person
  • In patient and family-centred care and shared decision making
  • In working with other health care professionals including specialists, and community partners to provide the best care to you
